APPLICATION

Mechanism of Action

An active pigment, embedded on the outside of the glove, transforms naturally occurring oxygen into so-called “Singlet Oxygen” as soon as the glove comes into contact with both oxygen and light. The reactive singlet oxygen molecules attack the cell membranes of gram-positive bacteria (MRSA, VRE, etc), thereby killing the affected microbes. Singlet Oxygen is already commonly used in medical settings. Amongst others, in the treatment of cancer using photodynamic therapy (PDT), due to impair tumour growth and pathological tissue alteration.
